Tickets to upcoming Def Leppard shows offer access to one of rock's longest-running spectacles. Attending one of this group's concerts means becoming immersed in a realm where pyrotechnic showmanship meets anthemic stadium rock. Def Leppard has played to over 100 million fans worldwide. And with a catalog deep enough to fill all of the group's appearances, you can expect a 90-minute spectacle, with every performance featuring sophisticated state-of-the-art lighting, explosive visuals expressible through the design department, and the indefinable presence of the band onstage.
The band's cross-generational appeal is on full display, bridging two different types of live appearances. First, there's the indoor, intimate arena experience. In addition to U.K. dates, there are also continental European and even Middle Eastern dates (as well as Westfalenhalle in Dortmund). Festival appearances stretch from Belsonic in Belfast to Wacken Open Air in Germany, positioning the band alongside fellow contemporary rock acts and alongside performers from the deep well of music history.
Setlists usually tip an equal balance between accessibility and profundity. They open with high-energy crowd-pleasers and proceed on to album cuts that even the most devoted followers are sure to know and love. On Elliott's recent tours, the band has served up its usual 90-minute show (without intermission) with extended guitar solos, an acoustic segment or three, and interactive moments where Elliott engages the audience. If you shell out for a VIP package, you'll get to meet the band (briefly) before the show and take some photos that will preserve the moment forever. Otherwise, you'll just have to be content with your memories of the event, which will have covered all the necessary moments when you and your fellow concertgoers sang "Pour Some Sugar on Me" at the top of your lungs.
If you're wondering what draws so many people back to an event that superficially seems repetitive, then I'd say it's anything but. Each performance delivers subtle but wonderful variations in setlists, spontaneous (sometimes comical) interactions within the band, and those special moments when the crowd and performers share something profound. No matter the gig, every concert brings its own alchemy of creative energy.
You can find the show in Europe at places such as Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany, and in North America at a prestigious venue like the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Prices naturally depend on a number of factors. The arena tour, with its ample seating, offers a wide range of prospects.

Joe Elliott's recruitment as a vocalist gave Def Leppard its core identity but real attention came from early demos that Elliott and his bandmates recorded, which filled a good part of their spare time. After a warm reception, Elliott and his friends built an audience while still in their teens. By the time they released their debut album, On Through the Night, in 1980, they had not yet begun to pay the rock 'n' roll dues that later acts spent playing small clubs and living on little more than table scraps. Despite their age (most of the members were 19; Elliott and rapier-wielding guitarist Steve Clark were 20), it was an impressive debut and a clear opening statement. On Through the Night showed that Def Leppard was something more than a better-than-average Judas Priest cover band. For their second album, High 'n' Dry, which came out in 1981, the group enlisted the aid of Mutt Lange, who made them sound bigger, heavier, yet no less melodic. Lange placed Elliott's vocals front and center and gave everything, including the guitars, a symphonic sweep. High 'n' Dry was the band breaking through.
When Def Leppard released Pyromania in 1983, it marked a significant departure from their earlier albums. Back then, they were mostly known for being good live performers with not much to offer as far as their studio material went. The digital tinkering of vocalist/producer Mutt Lange in the studio allowed the band to come up with some of the most bombastic vocal harmonies and rock-driven tunes that could actually deliver the goods at the basic melodic level. Pyromania was their first step toward becoming the arena-packing global superstars they are today.
"Photograph" was their first big single from the album. In the U.S., it went to number 12 during the summer of 1983 and stayed at the top of the rock pile for seven weeks.
"Let's Get Rocked" and "Make Love Like a Man" kept up the high-energy formula, while "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad" explored deeper feelings of wanting and dependency. Slang (1996), from a later era, experimented with alt-rock; X (2002) went back to classic rock. The same devotion has gone into recent albums like the self-titled one from 2015. "Dangerous" is the name of a track from the last one, and given that it also topped Billboard's Top 30 Rock chart, it's been included here.
Inside and outside of the realm of hits, though, album tracks from across the band's career boost a significance that even the group's staunchest critics can only ignore with risk.
